BIOGRAPHICAL MATERIAL
Let me tell you a little about myself. I have been teaching at Holy Cross for three years. I have been a teacher for 20 years, all of them in Christian schools. I received my bachelor's degree in elementary education from Southern Wesleyan University (formerly Central Wesleyan College), in South Carolina. I love teaching in the Christian school.
CLASS INFORMATION
We learn Bible verse songs that will help them realize God's presence with them all day. They learn memory verses and hear many stories from the Bible about how God was with His people and helped them. We also learn about their mistakes and how God still loved them and took care of them. We discuss how God helps us as well today, and how we can trust Him for everything in our life.
We learn some great language skills that will help us to become better writers. We use those skills to make our writing more exciting and meaningful.
We are doing our spelling words in cursive and do them for the test in cursive. They are doing well with that. We add a few other things in cursive, such as writing Phonics charts and we will be doing sentences in cursive soon too. A little at a time helps them become better writers.
In Math, we are working with perfect squares and square roots. We are also doing work with line graphs, fractions, borrowing, and using the Celsius scale.
Our mock election brought about extra recess time and the winner was Bubbles Salerno. It was a lot of fun. The children had fun voting and the candidates used some fun ways to try to win votes (just like a real election).
In Science, we're studying the special effects we see with our sun and moon. They will study about eclipses and learn how to make one. We are also learning about how we get seasons.
They did book reports on famous or great Americans. They are on display in the hallway. Stop by and read about astronauts, singers, nurses, Presidents, and others. They did a terrific job!
